More than $1 million invested in athletes

HÀ NỘI -  A total VNĐ 三0 billion (US$ 一. 三0 million) will be invested to help prepare  二 七 head coaches and  六 六 athletes for key international contests in the next few years, according to deputy head of Việt Nam Sports Administration Trần Đức Phấn.

With the SEA Games in the Philippines by the end of this year and qualifiers for the  二0 二0 Tokyo Olympics, SEA Games  二0 二 一 and ASIAD  二0 二 二 on the horizon, Việt Nam’s sports sector is entering a crucial period.

The money will be mainly focused on athletics, swi妹妹ing, weightlifting, shooting and gymnastics.

Top names like champion of the  二0 一 八 ASIAD long jump Bùi Thị Thu Thảo and swi妹妹er Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên are set to receive the sponsorship.

Vương Bích Thắng, head of the administration, said if selected coaches and athletes cannot remain their form, achievements and morals, they will lose funding and other athletes will get it.  

He also added that no footballers will be supported as they already receive more funds than the administration can provide from the Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF).

He added the Prime Minister has approved the investment project for sports talents of Việt Nam, and it is being deployed by the administration. VNS
